Acton Nature Center is open to the public 365 days a year and cannot be closed for a private event. The pavilion and picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be considerate of other visitors.
For weddings, the nature center accommodates a maximum of 125 guests because of parking and the character of the venue. A tax-deductible donation of $200 is required for use of the facility and helps cover maintenance materials and mower fuel.
A $500 damage deposit is required. It is fully refundable when the nature center is left as you found it and all event trash is removed from the premises.

Rio Brazos Master Naturalists help schools and groups explore the trails, gardens, and wildlife habitat. Submit guided tour and field trip requests 6 to 8 weeks before your requested date.

Open daily from dawn to dusk. Pack it in, pack it out. Take only memories and leave only footprints.
- Keep motorized vehicles in the parking area
- Keep dogs on a leash
- Stay on designated trails
- Watch for venomous snakes and biting insects
- Wear clothing at all times
- No fishing, hunting, or artifact gathering
- No firearms, fireworks, or glass containers
- No alcohol or campfires
- No loud noises, horses, or overnight camping
- Remove all trash and leave the land as you found it
Come prepared for the outdoors.
Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Bring sun protection, insect repellent, and refillable water bottles. Mosquitoes, ants, and chiggers can be present throughout the nature center.
